Katy Perry is the world’s highest-paid female musician

By WITW Staff on November 5, 2015

While she might not have the same capacity for generating headlines as Bad Blood rival Taylor Swift, Katy Perry definitely knows how to cash in on her success. According to Forbes annual list of highest-paid female musicians, released on Wednesday, Perry earned $135 million this year, grossing more than $2 million per city during 126 shows on her Prismatic World Tour. “I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company,” Perry told Forbes this past summer, discussing her success. “I’m an entrepreneur. … I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.”

Taylor Swift landed in second place with a whopping $80 million, largely thanks to the world tour she embarked on for her 2014 record 1989, while the women of Fleetwood Mac — Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie — complete the top three at $59.5 million also thanks to an insanely lucrative 86-city tour (grossing about 1 million per show). The other big earners rounding out the top five are Lady Gaga with $59 million, followed by Beyoncé at $54.5 million.
