"View" feud

Following harsh comments hosts made about her looks, Fiorina is heading back to “The View”

Only a week after co-hosts on The View made some scathing comments about  Carly Fiorina’s appearance — remarks that were criticized by CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin — the Republican presidential candidate has announced she’s been booked to appear on the daytime talk show this Friday. It will be Fiorina’s second visit to The View during her candidacy. She dropped by the show in June for what turned out to be a largely cordial visit. Fiorina proclaimed herself a “Whoopi groupie” during that appearance. This visit promises to have fewer pleasantries and a lot more edge, thanks to the tone set last week. The day after the third Republican debate, co-hosts Michelle Collins and Joy Behar mocked how Fiorina’s face looked during the event. Collins declared that Fiorina “looked demented” and Joy Behar quipped it would make for a good “Halloween mask.” In response, Fiorina said she’s not afraid of the show’s hosts and told them to “man up,” during a Fox News appearance. “If you want to debate me on policies … man up and debate me on them,” she said. “But don’t sink to talking about my face.”

Whoopi Goldberg fired back at Fiorina, laying down the law. “I do want to point out, Carly, last time you were here, we welcomed you to our table,” Goldberg said. “We helped raise your profile, so you would be included in the sea of men. You weren’t worried about any kind of Republican backlash. Nobody was backlashing. We were respectful and gave you your due. So, just so we’re all clear, you have to know the difference between when somebody  is coming for you, and when somebody is paying you a compliment, and when somebody is saying, ‘Here’s my observation.’ If you can get that together, maybe you can be president.”

Yes, this has all the makings of a great showdown, but unfortunately, it won’t be a face-to-face confrontation. Fiorina’s campaign confirmed to Women in the World that she’ll be appearing on The View via a satellite feed from New Hampshire, where she’ll be pounding the campaign trail.
