Instagram may be dominated by celebrity powerhouses like Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift, but the photo-sharing app has launched an initiative to share the photos of everyday women who are nevertheless extraordinary. The #MyStory campaign, which kicked off on October 26 with an exhibit in Los Angeles, includes such women as tattoo artist Roxx, firefighter Alli Meade, and artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. Their photos will be featured on Instagram’s official account over the course of the next year. The photos and stories that are highlighted during the campaign will also appear in Oprah Winfrey’s O magazine. “Women are important storytellers who help connect the Instagram community to what’s happening in the world,” said Instagram COO Marne Levine. “From illustrators and activists to mothers and entrepreneurs, women are using images to tell their stories in a way that transcends language, geography, or age.”
