Emmy-nominated Orange is the New Black actress and transgender role model Laverne Cox has signed up to take on the cult role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in a Fox reboot of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the original 1975 movie version, the role of the mad alien scientist and self-described “sweet transvestite from transexual Transylvania,” was played by Tim Curry. Since then, the midnight movie sensation has never been out of theatrical distribution, setting a cinematic record. The two-hour television event will premiere on Fox in 2016, and will be directed, choreographed and executive produced by Kenny Ortega, who is best known for helming the High School Musical franchise.
