Birthdays should be celebrated without inhibition, and that seems to be what Kanye West had in mind when he arranged for everyone at Kim Kardashian’s surprise 35th-birthday party to help her feel inconspicuous, inviting all the guests to wear fake pregnant bellies and to dress in their “best pregnant Kim look.”
Festive treats included a multi-tiered cake and churros, which Kardashian said she felt “so very comfortable” eating around all the the fake pregnant guests. (She shouldn’t be so hard on herself.) In a recent blog post, Kardashian wrote about how unpleasant she finds being pregnant: “I’m gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don’t relate.”
“I just always feel like I’m not in my own skin,” she went on. “It’s hard to explain. I don’t feel sexy, either — I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross.”
Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian cheerfully sported the faux bellies, while Kylie Jenner deployed hers for a booty lift a la Kim’s Paper magazine cover.
West’s more usual earnestness was given free rein in his choice of entertainment. The singer rented a theater so everyone could enjoy a private screening of the new Steve Jobs biopic, starring Michael Fassbender and written by Aaron Sorkin.
Presumably Kylie lost her ‘bump’ before being seated.
