At the last Republican debate on September 16, presidential candidate Carly Fiorina made waves when she described a video she had seen that depicted “a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.” She connected the video to an abortion conducted at Planned Parenthood, a claim that the organization and pro-choice activists denied adamantly. Anti-abortion activist Gregg Cunningham, founder of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, took ownership of the video in releasing it in full to the public on Tuesday. His group is responsible for the footage, he said, but he refused to identify the author, location, and time the footage was taken — and would neither confirm nor deny that the scene took place at Planned Parenthood. The extremely graphic full source video lasts 13 minutes and includes no sound, nor any images of the brain being harvested. He also claims with confidence that the procedure was an abortion at about 17 weeks, not a miscarriage.
