Lena Dunham interviews Hillary Clinton, asks “do you consider yourself a feminist?”

September 24, 2015

Hillary Clinton has developed a reputation for being tough to nail down for an interview — even after she pledged to do more interviews with the press. But Lena Dunham scored a sit-down with the Democratic frontrunner for her recently-launched newsletter, Lenny. Politico has obtained a video preview of the interview and Dunham posted a snippet of the key question she posed to Clinton on the Lenny Instagram feed. “Do you consider yourself a feminist?” Dunham asked Clinton. “Yes, absolutely!” was Clinton’s response. She added that she’s “always a little bit puzzled” when young women “say something like, ‘I believe in equal rights, but I’m not a feminist.'” Clinton went on to explain that being a feminist “doesn’t mean you hate men,” and that she hopes more women will openly embrace the equal rights belief system. The full interview is set for release next week.
