Carli Lloyd scores second hat trick in a row in 8-0 win over Haiti

On Sunday, the US Women’s Soccer Team faced Haiti in Birmingham, Alabama for a crowd of 35,753 fans, in the second of a two-game series — crushing the opposing team 8-0 and bringing their unbeaten home streak to a dazzling 100 games. Star of the game was, once again, Carli Lloyd, who scored the sixth hat trick of her career and the second in as many games. The US opened the score in the very first minute of the game, when Julie Johnston easily volleyed a ball into the net. The world champions ranked up another 39 attempts, resulting in additional goals from Morgan, Heather O’Reilly and Amy Rodriguez. While the Haitian team — filling in for Australia, which dropped out of the friendly games at the last-minute — was no match for this US team, a “real” test will follow next month, when they face six-ranked Brazil in Orlando and Seattle.
