Planned Parenthood strikes back at Carly Fiorina over “completely false” debate claims

Carly Fiorina emerged from Wednesday night’s second Republican debate as the clear winner, but her remarks on some controversial “sting” videos about Planned Parenthood triggered a backlash from the group. Fiorina unloaded on Planned Parenthood during the debate, taking the most extreme stance of all the candidates. “I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes,” she thundered. “Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.'” Several reporters who have watched all of the undercover footage have said the scenes described by Fiorina and other candidates do not exist. Planned Parenthood fired back with a letter formally asking Fiorina to stop spreading “completely false” statements about what appears in the footage, and inviting the surging GOP candidate to visit a Planned Parenthood clinic in-person and see for herself what happens there. Fiorina stood her ground and defended the remarks she made at the debate, saying, “They are real and I will issue my charge again,” The New York Times reported.
