Woman found guilty in fake penis sex assault trial

A UK woman has been convicted of three counts of sexual assault, after going to extreme lengths to disguise herself as a man in order to trick a female friend into sex. Gayle Newland, 25, was found guilty at Chester crown court on Tuesday and awaits sentencing. As the verdict was handed down, she yelled out: “How can you send me down for something I haven’t done?” Newland seduced the victim on the internet, using a male Facebook profile of “Kye Fortune” (later befriending her in person as Gayle). Newland – in her guise as Fortune – arranged to meet the complainant, but claimed to be “anxious about the way he looked”, requesting the complainant wear a blindfold. The pair had sex about 10 times until, on one occasion, the complainant removed her blindfold and saw Newland wearing the fake penis, with her breasts restrained by bandages under a swimming costume and her long hair covered by a hat. The complainant told the court she was so desperate to be loved she suspended her disbelief during her two-and-a-half year relationship with Newland, during which they spent at least 100 hours together.
