April Goss of Kent State, currently the only woman on a Division I team, has been playing Golden Flash football as a walk-on for four seasons. In 2014, she kicked a game-winning extra point for the team, but has yet to see any action so far this time around. “Before the season ends, she’ll get out there. I promise you that,” Kent State Coach Paul Haynes said this week. Goss says she has been hoping for play time “for a while” and has practiced (pretty impressive) patience so far. The kicker got her start as a soccer player and moved to football in high school. Her automatic distance is from the 10-yard line, which is why it is hard to get her into a game, according to Haynes.
