British woman discovers her “boyfriend” is her female friend

A bizarre case of alleged sexual assault is currently being heard in a British court: a young woman is accused of tricking her friend into having sex with her by blindfolding her and using a prosthetic penis. The complainant described how she met a man named “Kye Fortune” (who was actually her friend, Gayle Newland) on the Internet, and the two continued to regularly talk online and over the telephone. Eventually, they decided to meet in person at a hotel, but “Fortune” asked her to wear a blindfold as he claimed to be recovering from a car accident and a brain tumor and was “anxious about the way he looked.” The two allegedly had several more sexual encounters, with Newland allegedly using a strap-on, while the complainant was wearing a blindfold. During their final alleged sexual encounter, the complainant says she discovered the deception when she pulled off her blindfold: “I was sat on the bed, he was standing up. Something in my mind said ‘pull it (the blindfold) off, pull it off’. I just pulled it off. Gayle was just standing there… I just couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe it. Straight away she held her hand down over her face and said ‘it’s not what you think’.” The trial continues at Chester Crown Court.
