20 years later, revisit Hillary Clinton’s “women’s rights are human rights” speech

Hillary Clinton made the iconic speech in Beijing on September 5, 1995

“If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, it is that human rights are women’s rights … And women’s rights are human rights.”

Hillary Clinton delivered those now-famous words at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women 20 years ago. There is a lot that could be said about her powerful remarks, which still carry the same weight today as they did then. But we think the speech really speaks for itself as a milestone in the women’s rights movement. So take some time to revisit it and watch the speech in its entirety above, or read it in its entirety here.
