#ClothesWithoutLimits promotes gender-defying clothing options for girls

When it comes to clothing options for girls, the market is dominated by sparkles, ruffles, and all things pink. But not every little girl is interested in such attire, and not every parent is thrilled about restricting his or her child to such traditionally feminine styles of dress. Fortunately, a group of enterprising moms has banded together to create and promote clothing lines that transcend gender stereotypes. The #ClothesWithoutLimits campaign is sponsored by 10 up-and-coming businesses that are collapsing the distinctions between boys’ and girls’ clothing when it comes to colors, themes, and styles. The Kickstarter-funded Suit Her, for example, plans to offer suits and tuxedos that are tailored to fit girls’ bodies. Princess Awesome sells dinosaur-patterned dresses. “Clothes are such an expression of who we are and … how we choose to go out into the world is so important,” said Michele Yulo, one of the members of #ClothesWithoutLimits and creator of an online shop called Princess Free Zone. “I just believe that the more options (girls) have and they can see … the less limitations they will perceive that they have.”
