Network chief lashes out at Trump’s “unacceptable” and “disturbing” new attack on Megyn Kelly

Weeks after the the initial furor over Donald Trump’s “blood” remarks about Megyn Kelly, the Fox News host returned from a 10-day vacation on Monday night and was greeted by a barrage of nasty tweets from Donald Trump in which he said her show was better while she was away. The outburst caught the attention of Fox News chief Roger Ailes who issued a scathing statement slamming Trump, and defending Kelly, on Tuesday. “Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at Fox News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise,” Ailes said in the statement. “Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should,” he continued. Many of Kelly’s Fox News colleagues came to her defense on Tuesday also. After the first round of the Kelly-Trump feud, polls showed it had little effect on Trump’s standing with voters. And later Tuesday, Trump, in true Trump fashion, fired back at Fox News with a blistering statement of his own.
