“The tech industry has a problem with women,” according to Re/code, which launched a new video series aimed at highlighting women in the technology industry. Its first episode, “The 26%: Women Speak Out on Tech’s Diversity Crisis,” stars Leila Takayama, senior user experience researcher at Google X who got her start as a robotics pioneer with Willow Garage. “There’s race, there’s gender – there’s your height,” Takayama said, adding, “I never knew like, which one of those was hurting me at any given time.” So what does she the tech industry can do to change? “Being cognizant of being more inclusive makes a big difference,” she said.
