The step-granddaughter of Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was found lying on the street in front of her Manhattan apartment in the early-morning hours on Sunday after being stabbed multiple times. Police say emergency medical technicians raced E’Dena Hines, 33, to the hospital in an attempt to save her life, but she succumbed to her wounds. Hines’ boyfriend, 30-year-old Lamar Davenport was reportedly arrested by police as the suspect in the attack. A witness told The New York Daily News he saw the attack and said the assailant yelled, “Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils, in the name of Jesus Christ! I cast you out!” In a post on Facebook, Freeman addressed his granddaughter’s killing. “I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter.” In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that people will never know Hines’ “artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.”
