On Tuesday, Donald Trump returned to Fox News after a public spat with the network and anchor Megyn Kelly and tried to pivot to some policy issues. But on Twitter, many women are still reacting to his now-infamous quote unleashed Friday night on CNN in which he said Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her whatever.” Trump defended the remark, saying it wasn’t meant to imply anything about menstruation, but almost no one is buying his explanation. Using the hashtag #PeriodsAreNotAnInsult, women are, as The Independent puts it, “live-tweeting their periods at Donald Trump.” One woman posted a message saying, “Just wrapping it up for the month, just like you should wrap up your campaign.” She has only 49 followers on Twitter, but the message has been retweeted at least nine times and picked up at least 10 favorites. Another woman wrote, “.@readldonaldtrump Just finished menstruating. I still don’t like you. Guess it had nothing to do with my period.” That tweet has racked up more than 190 retweets and more than 380 favorites.
