The two most visible and famous transgender women finally met in-person over the weekend. Caitlyn Jenner, fresh off receiving the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPYs last week, and Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox met at an advanced screening of Jenner’s forthcoming E! documentary, I Am Cait. And the two posed for a photo to immortalize the momentous occasion. Cox has long been advocating for transgender individuals and helping to pave the path for them. She’s the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy Award and the first transgender person to have a wax statue fashion after her at Madame Tussaud’s. Jenner a former Olympic gold medalist has gone through a public gender transition this year, and has also been an advocate for the cause and to help fight for greater acceptance. Cox shared the photo of her and Jenner on her Instagram account.
