Whoopi Goldberg is no longer defending Cosby

Just days after Whoopi Goldberg issued a full-throated defense of Bill Cosby, she’s changing her tune on the fallen comedy star. On Tuesday’s episode of The View, discussion once again turned to the cascade of rape allegations against Cosby and the recent emergence of damning testimony he gave in a 2005 deposition. Last week, Goldberg said that Cosby “has not been proven a rapist.” But on Tuesday, she backtracked. “If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I got to say all of the information that out there kind of points to guilt,” Goldberg said, adding that she’s received threats for publicly supporting Cosby. She closed the segment with a message for the embattled comedy legend: “It looks bad, Bill. Either speak up, or shut up.”
