A woman celebrated her 108th birthday by throwing out the first pitch at Safeco Field in Seattle over the weekend. Lifelong Mariners fan Evelyn Jones also made history with the pitch, becoming the oldest person to ever throw out a ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game. She was accompanied to the pitcher’s mound at Safeco by her daughter and two of her grandchildren where she tossed the first pitch to Mariners star hurler Felix Hernandez. Afterward Jones explained that she stayed in good shape later in life by walking three miles every day until she was 96 years old. Except on Sundays during football season, her grandson reportedly noted, when she was busy watching NFL games.
