Little girls in Denver can thank salon owner Calli Heubl-Bodilis for potentially saving their elementary school pictures from all future embarrassment after she conjured up a “Beer and Braids” daddy-daughter date-night to teach dad’s how to style their daughters’ hair. Huebl-Bodilis came up with the idea after hearing horror stories of local father’s trying to style their daughters hair, and realizing, “Dads today are so much more hands-on. Many of my [female clients] are the breadwinners, the CEOs, and the dads stay at home.” The $55 class lets dads bring as many daughters as they want and trains them one-on-one in braiding, buns and pony tails. After the class, the girls put on a fashion show, with the winning dad earning a six-pack of beer and all the girls receive hair products to take home. Heubl-Bodilis said the most important part of the class is giving dads confidence. “I had one dad who was so nervous his hands were shaking, but by the end he was laughing and joking,” she said.
