Ellen Pao is in the news again — but this time it has nothing to do with the sexual harassment lawsuit she filed against her former employer. Pao, the interim CEO at the online message board forum Reddit, is at the center of a growing controversy over the firing of a popular employee. Pao fired Victoria Taylor, the site’s director of talent, with little explanation. Reddit’s community lashed out over the holiday weekend with almost the entire site being shut down by many of the site’s moderators in protest of the surprise dismissal of Taylor. Pao, who rose to national prominence during a high-profile lawsuit against her former employer, which she lost, has apologized for mishandling Taylor’s firing, but the Mea Culpa hasn’t placated the outraged Reddit users.
