Jessica Cox, 32, was born without arms, and as an adult she eschews the prosthetic limbs she wore as a child. “There’s nothing that can substitute the tactile ability of flesh and bone — and my feet have that ability,” she told The Daily Mail. Not only has she figured out how to use her feet to carry out everyday activities like brushing her teeth, holding a pen, and getting dressed; she’s also learned how to play piano and even became the first armless woman to reach blackbelt status in the American Taekwondo Association. In 2008, she became the first armless woman to earn a pilot’s license, securing herself a place in the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records. The only thing she needs help with, she told The Daily Mail, is doing her hair–but she’s taught her husband how to style it in a braid, ponytail or bun.
