This month marks four years since the Vancouver Canucks lost game seven of the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup finals, an occasion that triggered mass-riots in the city. Amidst the post-apocalyptic looking scene, photographer Rich Lam saw a couple kissing in the middle of the street, and the image he captured went viral. Though the photo was shared around the world, the identities of the couple remained a mystery for a few days before. Finally, they were identified as Australian Scott Jones, and Canadian Alex Thomas. The couple had been dating for six months when they found themselves in the middle of the riot, with police trying to clear the street, Thomas was knocked down, and Jones went down to comfort her. The Huffington Post reports that the couple is still together, living in Australia, and that the photo, signed by the photographer is “up in the bedroom,” proving that love is real.
