When it comes to sex, men and women disagree most on … porn

A Gallup survey which investigated the “moral acceptability” of a variety of issues found that, when it comes to sex, men and women most strongly disagreed on one thing: porn! In a random sample of 1,024 Americans over 18, the survey found that 43 percent of men thought of porn as morally acceptable, compared to 25 percent of women — a whopping 18 point difference. The sexes were a lot less divided on other issues, such as sex between teens, polygamy, premarital sex or having children out of wedlock. Mic. has a couple of ideas why pornography specifically is such a divisive issue: porn is usually thought of as a “dude-centric” product, made by and for men, turning off a lot of women from the objectified, sexualized image of women it showcases. Another reason would be the cultural stigma surrounding it, where women are condemned for their sexuality and men are celebrated for theirs, making porn a more accepted topic of discussion (and jokes) for the male gender.
