“The Internet was supposed to fix everything,” Last Week Tonight host John Oliver lamented in a segment on Sunday night’s show. And, as he pointed out, The Internet has really been great for the most part, a claim he substantiated by digging up a 20-year-old TV commercial for AOL that provided a quaint trip down memory lane. But then, Oliver delved into the dark side of the Internet, specifically online harassment — an issue we’ve addressed here both on our stage and on the website. Oliver is at once scathing and funny and asserts that anyone who doesn’t think online harassment is “that big a problem” should be congratulated for having “a white penis.” Watch the full video — it’s funny, but also makes an important point about a troubling issue.
