After discovering a lump in her breast, Jamie Crytzer, a restaurant worker in Pennsylvania, made an appointment to get a mammogram like any rational woman in her shoes would do. When an earlier appointment became available, her manager said leaving would be akin to “job abandonment,” Crystzer told local TV station KDKA in Pittsburgh. She left anyway and discovered the next day that she had been fired. After being let go, she wrote about her firing on Facebook, and the the post quickly racked up more than 2,000 likes. Her former employer claims that all actions were taken in “accordance with proper personnel management.” The silver lining: The lump was benign.
