Carolina Herrera on red-carpet nudity: “There should be a little mystery”

Is red-carpet nudity, outdated? Carolina Herrera certainly thinks so. The Venezuelan fashion icon says certain designers see nudity as a way to attract a younger audience and that female celebrities have bought into the trend, showing less and less skin at award shows and events. “The almost naked! Oh God! They’re trying to get people to pay attention to them. In life, there should be a little mystery, ” she said in an interview with the Washington Post. Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez both garnered media attention for their sheer numbers at the 2015 Met Gala honoring China’s influence on western fashion, but the 76-year-old Herrera thinks both women should dress differently if they’re to be considered fashion icons.
