Josh Duggar, star of TLC’s 19 Kids & Counting, has issued an apology and quit his job with a Christian lobby group after reports surfaced that he had molested underage girls when he was a teenager. He is the oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, featured in the long-running reality show that chronicles the daily lives of their large conservative Christian family in Arkansas. On Thursday, In Touch magazine published a document it said was obtained from the Springdale police department in Arkansas alleging the abuse, and reporting that Josh had been turned in by his own father. Duggar did not respond to the allegations directly, but he did express remorse for “wrongdoing,” issuing a statement that said: “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends.” Duggar also decided to resign from his job, working for the Family Research Council, a Christian lobbying group in Washington D.C. On Friday, TLC announced it was pulling the show from its lineup this weekend.
