Mother of Boston bomber says U.S. will burn in “an otherworldy flame” for giving her son a death sentence


After learning that a jury decided to punish Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with the death penalty for his role in the 2013 terror attack, the bomber’s mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, was left fuming. She reportedly sent out distraught messages to relatives and her son’s supporters criticizing the jury’s decision to put her 21-year-old son to death. Though many in the U.S. and particularly in Boston opposed the death penalty for Tsarnaev, his mother took issue with what she saw as a celebratory mood after the sentence was handed down. “They think that they are killing us and they celebrate this, but we are the ones who will rejoice when Allah grants us the chance to behold them in the flames of an eternal and terrifying fire, an otherworldly flame,” she reportedly said in one message. Tsarnaeva’s latest remarks echo her reaction to the jury’s guilty verdict last month. At the time, she responded saying, “America is the terrorist and everyone knows it! My son is the best of the best.”
