A policeman slammed his speeding vehicle into three women sanitation workers in New Delhi on Tuesday morning, killing them. The policeman reportedly identified as Rishipal, 59, was on his way home after working a night shift. He was arrested after the crash for negligent driving. Witnesses said he lost control of his car after the brakes failed and that the speeding car hit all three women from the back and dragged them until the vehicle came to a stop. One of the deceased, Meera, 55 was killed on the spot while the other two, Shakuntala, 55, and Maya, 28, were later pronounced dead at a hospital.The family members of the victims staged a protest forcing police to take several protesters into custody in order to control the situation.
