Prominent Iranian human rights activist “forcibly arrested” in her home

State security agents arrested renowned Iranian rights activist Narges Mohammadi in Tehran on this week. She was reportedly arrested in her home a few days after a court charged her with crimes “against national security,” although what those crimes are remains unclear. Mohammadi is a senior leader of the banned Defenders of Human Rights Centre and maintains close ties with Iranian Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi. Her husband is urging for international diplomatic pressure on Iran to push for Mohammadi’s “immediate release.”
