Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe: “These girls are still fighting, they’re still hearing gunshots in their hearts.”

The extraordinary nun is leading the battle to rebuild the lives of girls who were enslaved by the LRA

Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe calls her work a “small contribution to humanity,” but the girls from St. Monica’s Girls Tailoring Centre would probably disagree. It’s there that the Ugandan nun has helped thousands of girls re-shape their lives after suffering through slavey and rape while held captive by African warlord and Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony.

Sister Rosemary sat down with journalist Zain Verjee to discuss the emotional war that continues as the girls re-build their lives and why she may have an extra angel watching over her.
