A group of Bitcoin leaders has announced plans to bring together “the world’s greatest minds in digital innovation” at a conference held at billionaire Richard Branson’s private resort in the British Virgin Islands in May. All but one of those 37 minds belong to men, Fusion’s Kashmir Hill has noticed. The one woman invited to the summit is Susi Mai, a professional kitesurfer who hosts a kiteboarding camp for entrepreneurs and investors to network and “discuss the future of technology.” That 36-to-1 ratio doesn’t reflect women’s contributions in tech and digital currency. “Women in Bitcoin are not unicorns,” writes Hill. “They exist, and you can indeed invite them to your private island to drink mai tais while contemplating the crypto-future.”
