Miss Piggy to receive feminist award

Miss Piggy, the most fabulous of all Muppets, has been honored with the Brooklyn Museum Sackler Center First Award for “extraordinary women who are first in their fields.” She will receive the award, which has previously been bestowed upon the likes of Sandra Day O’Connor and Toni Morrison, during a ceremony on June 4. Miss Piggy will also be interviewed by Gloria Steinem. And no, that is not a joke. The Sackler Center said in a statement that Miss P is being recognized because she has spent “more than 40 years … blazing feminist trails with determination and humor.” The piggy in question took to her Twitter account to express her excitement: “Moi is finally getting an award!! Oh, I’m so excited! Eat your heart out, Meryl.”
