Kleiner Perkins has filed legal documents seeking $1 million from Ellen Pao, who recently lost a high-profile gender discrimination suit against the Silicon Valley venture capital firm. The sum would cover Kleiner Perkins’ legal fees, which Pao would in all likelihood have to pay as the losing party. The firm has, however, offered to waive the fee if Pao does not pursue an appeal. “We believe that women in technology would be best served by having all parties focus on making progress on the issues of gender diversity outside of continued litigation,” said Kleiner-Perkins spokeswoman Christina Lee. Time will tell whether or not Pao feels the same way.
