If you want to see Saturday Night Live actor Cecily Strong tonight, don’t head over to NBC. Instead, tune into the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where the 31-year-old comedian will headline the annual “nerd prom,” making her the fourth woman to perform at the event. (The last three were Paula Poundstone in 1992, Elayne Boosler in 1993, and Wanda Sykes in 2009.) Although the host usually roasts the commander in chief, Strong said, “I don’t want to be too mean where it really hurts somebody.” She’s also an Obama fan, whom she calls “maybe our funniest president,” and she’s “terrified” to follow him on stage. Regardless, hosting the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is quite a step up from her occasional SNL duty hosting the “Girlfriends Talk Show.” We’re looking forward to hearing her Chicago accent tonight, live from D.C.!
