UVA dean rails against Rolling Stone in scathing open letter

The fallout from Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s discredited Rolling Stone piece, “A Rape on Campus,” isn’t letting up. On Wednesday, Nicole Eramo released a statement detailing the pain she suffered, being maligned in the national press over the past five months. According to Erdely’s story, Eramo discouraged Jackie from reporting her gang rape to the police; Eramo says that she actually encouraged Jackie to go to the authorities, and that it was Jackie who refused. In an open letter to Rolling Stone, Eramo writes that the magazine “deeply damaged me both personally and professionally.”
