The former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard will announce her candidacy on May 4, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Carly Fiorina, who has been teasing a possible White House bid for quite some time, has carefully positioned herself as a potential candidate who could neutralize Hillary Clinton’s ability “to play the gender card,” she has said. According to the report, Fiorina will eschew the typical pomp and circumstance of presidential run declarations and instead make an online announcement and hold a press conference with national reporters. And Fiorina won’t be the only Republican who’s declaring presidential intentions that week. Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon from Florida, is also reportedly planning to announce his campaign on May 4, and former Arkansas governor and 2008 presidential also-ran Mike Huckabee is reportedly set to formally announce on May 5.
