Sometimes, archaeologists dig for months without turning up anything other than dirt or a few shards. Other times, they find perfectly intact, 250-year-old dildos. Last week [on Tuesday], a team of archaeologists in the Polish city of Gdnask uncovered a leather dildo dating to the second half of the 18th century. In a press release, they described it as “large,” “thick” and would have been “certainly expensive”; its materials, they note, are “of high quality.” The dildo was found in a bathroom, along with jewelry and fragments of pottery. Based on the discovery of wooden swords nearby, the archaeologists believe the site might have been a fencing school.
