Real-life superhero Angelina Jolie is rumored to direct Captain Marvel, which is set to become Marvel’s first ever female-centered superhero movie, according to Collider. After the box-office success of her war drama Unbroken, no one doubts that Jolie has the chops to direct action-fueled blockbusters. But what would make this project even more exciting, is the fact that Marvel hired two kick-ass female screenwriters to oversee the movie: Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman and Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve. The current incarnation of Captain Marvel is a U.S. Air Force pilot named Carol Danvers, who acquires alien DNA during an accident on a military base and develops cosmic superpowers such as flight, super-strength and “energy projection.” It is one of nine superhero movies that Marvel has announced, set to be released between 2016 and 2019 — this one can’t come soon enough!
