“The most powerful woman on Wall Street” Ruth Porat will be leaving her post as Morgan Stanley’s chief financial officer to replace Patrick Pichette at Google as their new CFO. She’ll be joining them in Silicon Valley at a critical time when Google is being scrutinized for its sluggish advertising revenue growth. (90% of the company’s revenue comes from advertising.) Porat will be a welcome addition to an area where companies are always attacked for “running like a boys’ club.” She’ll be the first woman in Google’s senior ranks, reporting directly to Eric Schmidt. Let’s hope he’ll remember not to interrupt her when she’s speaking.
