It looks like Stefano Gabbana has flip-flopped on the whole IVF issue. His controversial comments on gay adoption and IVF — saying that “the only family is the traditional one,” and there are “things that should not be changed” — prompted a boycott of Dolce & Gabbana last week started by Elton John and joined by numerous other celebrities. Now a 2006 Vanity Fair interview has resurfaced in which Gabbana recalled asking a female friend to be his surrogate. ““I want my own child, a biological child, the fruit of my sperm, conceived through artificial insemination because it wouldn’t make sense for me to make love to a woman I don’t love,” he told the magazine. His more recent comments on the topic seem to be conspicuously timed with the release of D&G’s family-centric AW15-collection, called “Viva La Mamma,” which features matching mother-and-daughter designs and was presented with pregnant models and children on the runway.
