Poet Marquesha Babers performs “That Girl”

Marquesha Babers took the stage, and the audience’s breath away, at Women in the World’s LA salon when she performed her poem “That Girl”.

A member of the Get Lit Players, Babers is from the Watts neighborhood in South LA and was homeless for seven years of her childhood. She first graced the Women in the World stage in 2014 when she performed a poem she’d written in honor of Senna, the Peruvian poet featured in the documentary Girl Rising.
