Gabby Giffords, Chris Christie hold gun summit in NJ

Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords traveled to New Jersey to meet with Governor Chris Christie this week. The tet a tet came about after lawmakers in the Garden State proposed legislation that would require any gun owners convicted of domestic abuse charges to surrender their firearms. “Dangerous people with guns are a threat to women. That makes gun violence a women’s issue,” Giffords said at the event. She and Christie, widely seen as a contender for the White House in 2016, held a closed-door meeting afterwards. Just last year, Christie vetoed a bill that would have outlawed magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. There was no immediate word on the outcome of Giffords’ and Christie’s meeting because the governor’s spokesperson declined to provide any details on what was said behind closed doors. What happens in Jersey stays in Jersey, we guess.
