Colorado lawmakers wear IUD earrings to support family planning

Colorado politicians are wearing glittery, IUD-shaped earrings because 1) contraception is the new frontier of fashion, and 2) the lawmakers are expressing their support for a bill that would fund the Colorado Family Planning Initiative. The initiative, which provides long-lasting birth control to women, is currently supported by a private grant that ends on June 30. Colorado has experienced a 40% drop in teen birth rates since the Family Planning Initiative launched six years ago. The earrings are the brainchild of Virginia Smith, a gynecologist/Etsy jeweller (which is, of course, an obvious professional crossover). Don’t have pierced ears? Never fear!
