Dolce&Gabbana’s ‘family values’ questioned after explosive remarks

Earlier this month, D&G debuted its new fall collection that’s dedicated to mom’s around the world. Then, in an interview with an Italian magazine, the two fashion icons ignited controversy by making explosive remarks about in vitro fertilization. “I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog,” Domenico Dolce reportedly told an Italian magazine. Gabanna partner weighed in, too, saying, “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.” The comments left singer Elton John, whose two young sons were both conceived using IVF, fuming. He’s called for an international boycott and many celebs and regular people on social media have gotten behind the movement. Photos of people tossing their D&G clothes in the garbage have turned up on Twitter. The fashion duo has shot back at John, calling him a fascist.
