In India, where arranged marriages are still very much a cultural norm, women are searching for innovative ways to get out of the unwanted nuptials. And one woman has broken some ground on that front. A bride in India left her groom at the altar this week after he was unable to answer a math question she posed before they took their vows. The woman reportedly said the groom’s inability to perform simple arithmetic was evidence that his family had misled her family about the extent of his education. The surprising turn of events took place in a village outside of the industrial town of Kanpur, said police, who for some reason got involved. And the math problem that stumped the dim-witted groom: 15 + 6 = what? His answer: 17.
